Why Rani Padmavati's movie budget is of Rs. 140 Crores?

Rani Padmavati is going to be one of the Bollywood’s most expensive movies with the budget of Rs. 140 Crores. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movies are usually high budget. The film is going to be produced by two Bollywood studios Eros International and Viacom Motion Pictures together with the production house of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Two such big studios collaborating together for a movie is a rare thing.

Why Rani Padmavati's movie budget is of Rs. 140 Crores?

As seen in Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, Goliyon ki Raasleela Ram Leela, the huge sets developed to visualize the history would have increased the budget. The sets would portray the history set in the era of Rani Padmavati. The sets are going to be made on a grand scale. And of course, you may remember the heavy, luxurious costumes of Deepika Padukone in Ram Leela with beautiful, heavy jewellery. So, you can imagine the costumes and jewellery in Rani Padmavati and they would be even more historic and beautiful as the story is based on historic era. And of course, the looks of the actors should be well planned to make them look like the epic kings and queen.

The second reason for the escalation in budget is the star cast. With the top actors as the cast, the budget would have obviously been raised. Deepika Padukone has been recently very successful and she is working in Hollywood too. Ranveer Singh has acted so good in his movies. Shahid Kapoor has been successful in winning his fans’ hearts all over again by his acting in Haider and Udta Punjab. So, of course, there is a massive increase in the overall budget.

It is obvious that with such high budget production, two big studios, such superstars, there is a high risk involved. Although the film would be released on a big scale with almost 3500+ screens in India and many screens overseas, but still the risk is big. We hope this movie by Sanjay Leela Bhansali would be a super duper hit. We are looking forward to the movie.
